Detoxification
The human body can become toxic or polluted in two ways – external and internal. The most common is the external sources and the lists are endless. Beginning with inhalation of smoke/air pollution, chemical residues on food, drugs, chemicals from paints, plastics and pesticides. Internal sources of toxicity can develop from undigested foods, dehydration, malnutrition not to mention toxic emotions and thoughts.
Since it has become virtually impossible to eliminate chemicals from our environment, the only option we are left with, is to cleanse our body of these chemicals periodically. Detoxification is unarguably very important for a long lasting health.
A lack of body awareness may accompany a sickened condition and it is this absence of consciousness that permits the body to degenerate. If a person is in tune to their body’s needs he or she will be aware something is going wrong and then can fast, cleanse, juice, change diet and incorporate a total body detoxification. Increasing good health also increases our awareness of the body.
Detoxing the body can be useful to:
* Eliminate pesticides and environmental toxins from the skin
* Can clear cellulite and improves skin tone
* May assist in weight management
* Can energise the body and relaxes the mind
Treatment
There are various methods available for detoxification and it can be an exhausting exercise to choose the correct approach.
* Detox supplement programs. These include supplements, 5 day – 10 day 14 day programs and more involving some sort of supplement in the form of a tablet or tonic. Most involve cutting out types of food such as caffeine, alcohol, dairy, wheat, meat and processed foods accompanied by plenty of water and exercise. There can be minor side effects during the early stages but they should pass.
* Far infra red saunas have become very popular in Japan over the post century and more increasingly popular in Australia for detoxing. There are a number of controlled studies on saunas relating to the health effects particularly of far infrared and how far infrared differs to a traditional steam sauna in that the air is warm and dry as opposed to the humid in traditional saunas.
This method involves the use of radiant energy at a low temperature to generate heat within the body. The radiant energy has the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin and the underlying subcutaneous layers. The heat generated within the body causes the body to sweat intensely and in the process eliminating waste materials, including harmful toxins. With this method several toxins can be eliminated from the body via sweat.

* Colon cleansing or irrigation uses water to clear out accumulated waste from the colon. Rubber tubing is inserted into the rectum and then water is then turned on to flush out waste. This is conducted by a therapist and usually lasts 30 – 50 minutes per session.
* Detox diets. There are many foods and beverages that can easily be cut of out of your diet in order to Detox – the usual suspects are caffeine, alcohol, fast foods, meats and dairy. Other not so obvious are ingredients such as preservatives and flavour enhancers or flavours found in takeaways and processed foods. Like most Detox methods this should be accompanied by plenty of water and moderate exercise.
* Avoid pesticides and chemical sprays. These days our fruit and vegetables have an abundance of pesticide sprays that an ordinary wash doesn’t always eliminate. There is a sanitising device available to remove these toxins using super charged tap water. If you are looking to eat healthy food try organic produce, using a sanitizing system that doesn’t use chemicals or removing the outer skin.
* Liver Detox. Carrying around accumulated toxins can have an adverse effect on liver functionality. As well as alcohol abuse, drug addiction and disease, poor diet and obesity can also contribute to liver problems. There are strategies to run this around including raw juicing, avoiding unhealthy fats, sensible food portions, exercise and body detoxifying.

* Foot Detox and ION cleanse. With this procedure, you only have to place your foot in basin of salted water that contains ion generators. The ion generators are then supplied with a very low current of electricity which causes the production of positively charged and negatively charged ions that then attract opposite charged particles in the body. The procedure works by attracting charged toxic substances in the body and then drawing them out into the water.
Prevention
Unfortunately toxins everywhere – the artificial additives in our foods, the air we breathe, soaps and detergents, garden pesticides and food pesticides. You may not be able to prevent most of these but you can certainly minimise them.
* Clean up your act. Ensure that you eat healthy foods, plenty of fruits, vegetables and fibre and avoid too much alcohol, caffeine and artificial food additives.
* Drink water. As well as keeping you hydrated, water helps to flush out toxins. Ideally the human body requires 2 litres each day.
