Answer: By hiring a scooter from The Scooter Shop and cruising around all the sights within reach!

Serious Fun. Oxymoronic you say?? Well I’ve discovered a little secret. Serious Fun is not only plausible; it’s attainable!! Hiring a 50cc Scooter, or a Buzz Box, as my sister and I affectionately dubbed them, was the perfect way for me to showcase the scenery, beaches, museums and vibe of Darwin to my ‘first time visitor from the South’. Easy to ride – if you can ride a bike and drive a car you’re sure to have the skills – they have top speeds of about 70kph, thrilling enough without being hair raising.

Darwin is indeed the perfect place to tour on a scooter. Traffic here is simple to manoeuvre through, especially when compared to other major Australian precincts, and there are a plethora of sights and attractions within a close distance to ensure that a full day’s hire is, in fact, a full day. Having said that, however, we could have ridden them little fellas forever, barely pausing to take in the view!

So be you local or traveller, thrill seeker or casual explorer, playing tour guide to a visitor, eager to get out in our glorious weather or just keen for a bit of a giggle (especially when you attack those speed humps!) speak to Darren and the Crew at The Scooter Shop. •    Wear Sunnies – prevent the old ‘insect in the eye’ situation.
•   Get a group together, riding in a pack feels like you belong to some exclusive bikie gang
•    Pack a picnic, or plan a lunch at a venue with an ‘outdoorsy’ feel. Stick with the theme.
•    If it does happen to break out in a bit of a storm in the afternoon, DO NOT pack it in early… Riding in the rain was the highlight of our joy ride!!!
