What was your major inspiration in becoming a DJ?

I had always loved music growing up and was into every style at one time or another from hip hop to metal. But I think I really got the bug to become a DJ when I went to my first rave, hearing this awesome music, a massive crowd who where going off, hands in the air to the lasers the whole bit and a totally electric atmosphere all controlled by the DJ.

When you first arrived in Darwin. What were the major differences between the music scenes between Darwin & Adelaide?

One of the big differences was the music. I found that Darwin was a lot more commercial than Adelaide, big songs that worked for me in Adelaide cleared the floor here, so it was a steep learning curve for me and also the punters. But I must say Darwin crowds have come along way and are right up there with the rest of Australia now. Also Darwin had very few interstate guests and no internationals at all when I first arrived here. This is one of the things I worked hard to change and we now see some of the biggest names in the industry passing through Discovery.

You have had a lot of experience playing in front of the biggest crowds in Darwin. What have been some of the most memorable gigs?

Man that's a tough question, a lot of the gigs aren't that easy to remember ha ha.
Well lets see, all the Bass in the Grasses and Bass in the Dusts have been great.
Ultrasonic (Mallorca Lee and Dave Forbes) are always a blast two of the nicest guys and always up for a laugh and one of there trips they got stuck here due to a cyclone so we threw a cyclone party which turned into a pretty mental night playing back to back and too many shots to count.
Carl Cox was another memorable night. A DJ hero of mine and to see the Darwin crowd totally up for it
was awesome.
Honestly there have been so many highlights I could ramble on all day it is just one part of why I love
what I do.

What style of music are you most passionate about?

I love house music in all its forms from funky vocal stuff too tuff electro, which you can hear at Sunday Mass at The Arc Sunday nights... plug plug.. ha ha. But seriously there is so much good music coming out at the moment, a lot of it Australian which is great to see.

What are the plans for DJ UK in the future?

At the moment I am just starting to venture into some production of some original tunes so hopefully look out for some releases in the near future. Also I would like to get a Discovery mix CD series started. I do love living and working in Darwin the life style is great and the city and club scene is growing rapidly so I have no plans to move from here just yet.
