The Technics inthemix 50 is now in its 5th year in promoting Aussie talent at what they do best. As a new entrant in 2006 Andy Murphy polled at number 28. Over the next coming year his work has been well recognised and has climbed to number 16 in this years awards.
ONELOVE - SMASH YOUR STEREO is the brand new CD set from the hottest house & electro tracks around. Xpose caught up with Andy before his tour takes him to Darwin.
You are travelling all over the country promoting the One Love Smash your Stereo Tour how has it been so far?
It’s been good, flat out. Been touring all over the place and just got back from the music awards.
You placed really well this year.
Yeah there’s healthy competition here in Melbourne so it great.
What do you expect to be faced with when you land in Darwin?
A good time, party. I’m expecting it to be hot, certainly a lot hotter than Melbourne so that’s a good thing.
What can Darwin look forward to when you get on stage at Discovery on Thursday night?
Hopefully something different, I like to play a big mash up and I hope everyone is ready to party.
What have been some of your greatest experiences in your DJ career?
Definitely promoting this CD. I played overseas earlier this year in Dubi, Singapore and
South Korea.
What’s the weirdest thing that’s happened to you at a gig?
I dislocated my knee during a gig and slipped onto my record case cause I was wearing… ugg boots. I actually finished my set on a stool and then went straight to hospital. I didn’t realise how much I’d hurt myself until the next day and spent the next 6 weeks on crutches.
Can you tell Darwin Something that no-one else knows about you?
X box addict, when I’m not producing, DJ’ing or partying, I’ve almost finished a multi-media degree and love playing X box.
